Emmet County Extends Free Tree Debris Drop-Off for Residents Through July 1, Supported by Community Foundation Grant

PETSOKEY, Mich. – At its June 12 meeting, the Emmet County Board of Commissioners approved an extension of free storm-related tree debris disposal for residents at the Emmet County Transfer Station through Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

This continued assistance is made possible in part by a $10,000 grant from the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation, also announced at the June 12 meeting. The grant helps support the county’s ongoing storm recovery efforts by covering disposal costs for residential tree debris.

“We’re grateful to the Community Foundation for stepping up to support our residents during cleanup,” said County Administrator David Boyer. “This partnership ensures we can continue offering free access to proper debris disposal beyond the closure of the temporary sites.”

Effective June 16 through July 1, 2025:

  • Emmet County residents may drop off storm-related tree debris at the Transfer Station at no charge.
  • Commercial haulers and contractors may also use the facility but will be charged $10 per cubic yard.

Transfer Station Location:
7363 Pleasantview Rd., Harbor Springs, MI 49740

A Communitywide Effort
Emmet County encourages all residents to dispose of storm debris safely and responsibly. Proper disposal keeps our roads clear, supports emergency services, and maintains the natural beauty and safety of our shared spaces. The County extends its appreciation to the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation for their generous support and to the public for their continued cooperation.
