Flood Debris Voucher Program Expanded & Extended
Emmet County DPW/Recycling has expanded its Flood Debris Cleanup Voucher Program by including debris from both the April and June 2026 flooding events. Additionally, voucher expiration dates will be honored through Saturday, October 17, 2026, providing residents with more time to complete cleanup efforts.
The program was created to provide direct relief to Emmet County households by helping offset the cost of disposing of flood-related debris. Eligible residents may redeem vouchers at the Emmet County Pleasantview Drop-Off Center for qualifying flood debris, including damaged household materials, construction and demolition debris (drywall, flooring, furniture), vegetative debris and cleanup waste associated with either flooding event.
“Recovery doesn’t happen on a set schedule,” said Ashley McMurry, Emmet County DPW Deputy Director. “By extending this program and expanding eligibility to include debris from the June flooding, we’re continuing to meet the needs of our community and giving residents the flexibility they need to finish cleanup.”
Residents may register for vouchers at the Emmet County DPW Office, 200 Division Street, Suite G-76, Petoskey, during normal business hours. In an effort to improve access, vouchers will also be available at the Pleasantview Drop Off Center August 3-7, 2026.
The voucher program is available to Emmet County households affected by the April or June 2026 flooding. Residents with questions about eligibility or the registration process are encouraged to contact Emmet County DPW/Recycling at 231-348-0640 or recycle@emmetcounty.org.
Emmet County DPW/Recycling remains committed to supporting residents throughout the recovery process while ensuring flood debris is managed safely and responsibly. This program is made possible with grant funding from the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation, whose support is helping Emmet County provide direct assistance to residents recovering from the 2026 flooding events.
